It's a repeat of history, I could never figure it out, but I followed that same path by aquiring a few things my dad owned, and it was rewarding, it's kind of like reliving the past in the present. In my case, I actually got back one of the tractors he had, and soon found another identical one with really low hours, as his was well worn, engine stuck and I just had to do it. I bought it sight unseen, 1200 miles away not even knowing how I'd get it home. Got a lead on a trucker and with just a phone call he delivered it for about $1600, trusting me for payment, which I had in hand when it arrived. Tractor was just as the seller described and as the photos indicated. It's just a hobby, but the reward was that I got to run that same old classic D7 Cat, same smell, sounds and the rest, words can't describe the satisfaction of having done it. The best thing about it was hearing the familiar sound of that non turbo big 4 cyl engine, echoing in the valley once again, some 30 years later, the past kind of came alive again, it's an enjoyable experience and a fun hobby, still don't know what drove me to do it, have no regrets though. We had a B and a 2010 with a loader, I think everyone's had some green at one time or another, my neighor still pulls the seed wagon to the field with the 620, just love to listen to it across the valley lugging along, his oldest sure can back a wagon with it too, he's had that one for as long as I can remember and the last time I saw him doing field work with it was '02, planting 40 acres of hay, and he's got some late model green ones with cabs, but that ole 620 still has it's place.
