I have found several of these with bad wire connections by the compressor or pressure switch , new switch and connector fixed em right up .

Is the F350 a diesel ? If so it has a vacuum pump mounted on the engine that supplies the vacuum operated heater/AC controls. A bad pump on a diesel or or leak in a hose on a gas engine could cause your problem.
Try connecting a vacuum guage to see if enough vacuum is present to operate the HVAC system.

Are you sure the fins in the condenser in front of the radiator are clean? First thing I would check.

If the system is still charged then it sounds like an electrical problem to me. First I"d check voltage at the clutch when the system stops working. if you"ve got voltage there and the clutch isn"t engaging then it"s a problem with the clutch windings. Too, like Dave said, there should be a pressure switch, or two on the system that could be giving the problem. Depending on how it"s set up there could be a seperate low and high pressure switch or it could be all combined into one switch. Either way it"s designed to cut power to the compressor clutch so if it"s acting up the clutch won"t engage and the system won"t work. If you don"t have power at the clutch find that switch and the next time the system stops working check it. If your getting power across it it"s fine, if not that"s the problem. The best thing though would be to get a wiring diagram where you can see the switches, etc that might be causing the problem. The system in my Freightliner quit several years back and turned out to be the blower stitch not sending power to the relay to let the A/C system work. Without the diagram there"s no way I"d have known where the A/C system was fed from and would still be looking for the problem. Good luck.

best thing to do is have someone put a set of gauges on it and see what the pressures are doing. It could be several things that cause that problem.

Toggle switch and hot wire to compressor clutch usually takes care of it unless you are particular. How do you know freon is OK? There usually is a pressure switch that will shut you down, if freon is low.

Do NOT put a toggle switch on it to engage the compressor clutch.

There is a reason for a low pressure switch on the system to keep the compressor off. A/C systems need a full charge to carry the little bit of oil they use to keep the compressor lubed.

I've replaced several compressors that were ruined in this way. Repairing the system right to begin with is better.
