How many gallons of antifreeze go into a Massey Harris 44-6? It has a continental engine. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Your MH 44-6 holds 4 gallons of coolant. Put in 2 gallons of antifreeze and fill it up with water. Don't waste your money on distilled water it won't make a bit of difference. Water is water (H2O) unless you have some pretty awful stuff at your place just use tap water. Unless your water is full of iron, alkali or other minerals that coat your pipes and outlets I wouldn't get to excited about using it.

Why not just buy the premixed and pour it in.

'Cause pre-mix is a racket and a rip-off. You'd think 50% anti-freeze would cost half as much as full-strength anti-freeze. Not so. Don't pay for water.

You need to find out the capacity of the cooling system. Then mix a ratio of 50/50,40/60,30/70 etc.etc. with distilled water. 100% anti-freeze will not have as much protection when used alone. Usually the anti-freeze jug will have a chart to show what to mix for low temperatures.
