Last year I made a few purchases over the internet using my card, and they called me a ciouple days later asking if it was me or someone else. I didn't recognize the places, or companies at the time but later on after I already had them cancel that card and send me a new one, that they were mine.

No problems otherwise.

I bought a computer a while back and then went back in n bought a monitor to go with it as the one i had wouldn't work. When I got home that evening the credit card company called to verify that i had made the buys. Its nice to have them watching out for you.
Walt PS I have Wells Fargo's cards. Both Visa and Mastercard they call on both of them.

Call and get the disput paper work going and DO NOT pay what is in dispute. Will take time to iron out. I had a 150 dollor limo ride to OHare show up on my card. Looks like a employee of the IL toll road used my number which is on record for the auto pay for toll road. Only a guess on my part. Never had to pay.

That sucks. We do not have any charge cards. We do have a Visa debit card with our banks. We check our balances and activity daily if we can. I am assuming since they were unauthorized you will be reimburesed the withdrawels, correct?? Still sucks, and the person theivin g from you probably does not even work at all.

That was starting to happen with our Visa debit now and then. Just small amounts. The bank advised us to close our checking account and open a new one. Did,got a new card,so far so good.

Just had my credit card # stolen about 3 months ago. My credit card company called and said that there had been alot of charges made on the card. Got up and could not find the card. Appears my son had gotten it from the old lady and charge up a bunch of little items up to about $200. Someone got the # and pin and ran it up to about $7500, ordering things like clothing, Walmart online, etc. all next air shipping. My card company sent me a copy of all the bills and credited my account all but what my son a put on it. No hassle at all.

We just had that happen on one of our cards. We caught it and informed the card company & Experian. We were told pretty much the same as you but followed their instructions and we eventually had the money refunded. So the system does work but you have to be vigilant and follow their instructions.

Are you sure? Did the company call you to tell you about the activity? Are you sure it was realy them? Did you give them any information over the phone? I would go to the card website and check on the acct if I were you.

My wife went to Missouri last month and used her credit card. Card company called her to ask if she had the card in her possession because we usually only use the card in Mexico. So, when I had to go to a meeting two weeks ago in the US, we called Citi to let them know I might use it there. I´m sure glad they check when card is used in a place that is not normal for us.

As far as being called by the credit card company, they do that when an unusual pattern shows up. Last year I had occasion to do a bunch of charging in a few days and got the call to make sure it was me. I normally use it once a month just to keep the credit in good shape. Heres a new twist---I wanted to get my credit report so I went to a common website and jumped through the hoops and then the was a box to check for 1$ per mo. to be updated monthly. I checked it. Next thing I knowis a had charges of two 1$ accounts and another two accounts for a total of 44$. called the debit card people and got them off but that is the way they get you. Now a hassle for me to fill out and mail forms etc. Big bunch of doo doo.
