Can anyone help me with my tractor. It"s a Long 310. It runs ok, but smokes quite alot. I think it"s getting too much fuel. Also after it is warm the rev out of control. I have to shut the fuel off .It"s seems as if the pump is going wide open. Thanks for the input. John

Have you changed your fuel filter lately? Is it dark black smoke, or a whiteish smoke? Could be a intake gasket blown also, What you are descibing could also be a lack of fuel. From what I have seen, a lack of fuel can cause a whiteish smoke, and the running away with it self, that also can be a from a lack of fuel, as an engine leans out, it will run faster and faster and the governor has no control and the only way to slow it is to shut off the injector pump. If it were overfueling, the engine should not run away with itself, the governor should slow it down.

So far the best I can tell it"s dark black smoke. I"m going to do some maintenance this weekend and do some more checking. I"m an auto mechanic but I don"t have much experience with diesel engines. thanks
