My Son has this tractor and renewed the carburator with a complete kit and has a extra spring and is wondering if it should be on one of the linkage rods. There wasn't one there when He started the rebuild. There is a larger one on the linkage to the govenor and it doesn't need to be replaced. Can anyone help on this subject.? Also it doesen't seem to want to idle down without dieing. I have a 1947 2N and it's quite a bit different and also I'm Ford Tractor "Illitorite" but I sure enjoy mine. Pat. P

NO spring on linkage rods.

Is it a compression or tension spring, or the spring to return the choke to the open position?

IF it's a small compression spring, it could be for the mixture screw.

If it won't idle, there's a passage in the carb still plugged, the gasket between the body halves is bad, or the removeable venturi is damaged or improperly installed. (Which affects the bowl vent/idle circuit.)
