Will a 4230 diesel fit into a4020 diesel
tractor without modification? My late 4020
has a cracked block and I have a 4230 engine
available. Can I use the 4020 water pump to
shorten the length? thanks

Hello, Steve! Just a question: would you ever consider installing a Cummins B Series engine in your John Deere...PROVIDING...that the installation worked well and was a VERY professional-looking conversion? (I know the Deere Purists hate this type of thing). I used to re-power tractors, including a Deere 3010 gas and a Deere 5400 self-propelled harvester. The Cummins starts easily, and is very good on fuel. I would enjoy reading your thoughts on this. A Blessed New Year to you!

Is there an adapter kit available? It would
be fine with me to have a cummins engine if
it would work reasonably. thank you

Don't know why it wouldn't fit. If the 4020 is a late one, the blocks are identical. They will be dimensionally the same regardless.

Hey sorry to hear about your 4020, I know they will fit in, and I have seen them installed, but don't know the details.

I have a 4430 cabed tractor with 3 remotes that is in need of an engine. I sure wish I could find someone around here in South Ga. that would swap me a nice late model 4020 that needed an engine also. I had found one, and before I could go look at it the guys at work told me it was gone. I would rather work on the 4020's any day than the 30 series. That's just me though. South Ga. Plowboy
