What are the smallest rims a 15.5 tire can fit on? Thanks

I have 15.5-38 tires on a 14" rim. I think I will just find some 13.6-38 tires to put on it. 15.5 are way out of my budget.

isn't a 13.6 made for a 12" rim? that's stretching it a bit much. 1" either way might work, but you'd better just bite the bullet now and get the 15.5-38's.

Still a common enough tire here, think they're cheaper than an 18.4-34...

14", 16" is great for pulling. What is on there now for rims and tires?

I have a JD 70 that originally had 12 or 13-38 tires. Didn't have the $$ to put on new ones and couldn't find any used so I put used 15.5-38's on it. It works, but it is not a good situation. When you get the tube in and try to get outside over the rim, inside wants to climb onto top ring of rim. Cut up small blocks of 4x2 to put between rim and tire to hold it in to center. Get the tire mounted and take the blocks out and try to get tube out from under tire to inflate. Tire is too wide, doesn't want to seat on the rim. Have filled with air and emptied several times, Plenty of tire soap, no help. Ended up putting WAY,WAY TOO MUCH air in tire, letting jack down and leaving it set for a couple of days and will finally pop out where it should be. I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine, and the tire went flat setting in the shed. When I get done, think I will buy new set of tires and use a sawzall to take the 15.5's off. Kids, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!! Only an idiot would do this, way too dangerous. Says a lot for me, Huh. Chris

Okay Chris, I admit. BTDT. When I first read this post my thought was 'how much work do you want to do?' I have learned over the years that whenever I have to fight a tire on the rim that is when it is very likely I pinch the tube. The 15.5 has such a short sidewall that you really don't have too much to work with. Like the others said, stay pretty close to the 14 inch it was designed for.

A 15.5 is 14 inches at the rim. Would not want to go over/under more than an inch- thus a 13 inch rim. Otherwise they look funny and simply don"t work as well.

Firestone Website lists 15.5-38 Field and Road Tires fitting a 14 inch rim, but may be able to fit another size rim. All I can tell you now.
