I'm hoping someone can help me.I have a Ford, I believe it's an industrial tractor, I started it up yesterday and I was letting it warm up at a fast idle. It ran smooth for about five minutes then a BANG, and flames shot out the exhaust and she died. it will not refire.
I'm trying to find a manual but the numbers I have are leading me nowhere.
Help!
The tag under the hood reads as follows;
Tractor Number C378331
Model K5021K
Engine 3B17A
Unit 3D27B
Can anyone tell me where to start looking for the problem and a manual
Thank you

A backfire is "almost always" caused by problems in the primary ignition.

Might also want to check your timing if you do still have spark. Pull the distributor cap and see if the rotor button is still turning. tractorsam

I'll bet you might have had some answers by now had you posted this on the FORD board!

If it won't run.. check spark.. if it has spark, check fuel..

( you might try reposting on the ford board! )

good luck.

these old ford engines are hard to kill unless you really work at it.
