I need to replace ring/pinion set in a 3414 with part number 704151R1 K67 STL.

I have a 3444 with gear set 704151R1 H68 STL. Are they interchangable? What is the difference in the two tractors that make the ring/pinion sets different?

Check the number of teeth on the ring and then on the pinion gears each if they have the same tooth count and all other things being the same would work. There sould be a tooth count on the end of the pinion shaft by the nut end and on the edge of the ring gear some even have the count for both on the pinion so you can figure the ratio to check for likeness.
