Are you putting a power steering system on your H? I would really appreciate some pics!! I have a H and I would like to do that someday. I think it is interesting that the people who accomplish the most get the most criticism. I've worked with guys that didn't want to do anything, but they didn't want anybody else to do anything either. Makes em feel inadaquate I guess. Most places I've worked, the majority of the work was committed by a minority of the workers. Ignore the fools, you have a lot of friends here.

Real interesting. Never seen one before being done on a tractor. Thanks for showing your work.

It's an M, but I put ps on my H a few years ago. It was a walk in the park compared to this thing! :>)

Here's the H pictures

Thanks,

Allan

Allen,
Is that valve in the lower picture what you call your priority valve? I've used a what appears to be the same thing as an adjustable flow control to regulate the speed on a hydraulic motor on a large saw infeed table at work. I don't know how that would work on a ps unit, since the aim is not speed regulation. Maybe the internals are different?

Yeah,

The power steering has to have right at 3 1/2 gallons of dedicated oil, meaning that it has to be first at the feeding trough or else the use of other equipment would "rob" from the steering and stop it.

Valve's "input" is plumbed right off the output of the pump and then it's leftover "exhaust" oil is used to power the rest of the hydraulic system.

What's the GPM of the hydraulics of your tractor? I've got a 730 Case, but I guess I never looked to see what the output is on it. Irv*

Is that a Char-Lyn unit? and do you have live power to drive it?

Yeah,

If I'm remembering it right, you have to use live power and a priority valve on the H because the lower radiator hose is in the way of a dedicated pump.

Darned thing works remarkably well. Feels like a small 560.

Friend has a Charlynn PS set up on his H with a dedicated pump. The previous owner set it up on the upper left side-then cut a hole with a torch to fit the cap through the hood. We cleaned the hole up with a die grinder but its a working tractor so we left it at that for now. A little bit of work and ingenuity and I think we can make it fit right under the hood. The big problem then is hood would have to come off to add oil to the system.

Poor old Allan. Getting all this greif over his M. You know, I could take it off his hands for a small fee.

Heck, Allan's one of the more industrious of us. I wish I had some of his energy sometimes. One of the highlights of my day is checking in to see what all of yall are up to. Friendly comraderie is great, but spring better get here fast. I might have to leave for a while if this place doesn't get a little more light hearted.

Keep up the good work everyone.

JoshuaGA

P.S. You know about August yall will be complaining about the heat and wishing winter would hurry up and get here. Take it for what it is worth.

I think it's an "M". The oh-so-controversial "M" that seems to have made its way into the National Enquirer gossip paper along with Britney speers, thanks to mindless bickering.
