Hey Goose and Bob.

coincidentally, the "word for today" Your Dictionary.com was "kilter" [slang] alignment, balance, good general condition.
Usage:Another slang word with a meaning similar is "whack".If something is out of kilter it is
somehow misaligned, out of balance. If out of whack it is not working correctly, possibly not working at all.
We can bring something into kilter but we cannot say that we have brought something into whack or that it is in whack. Out of whack is an absolute idiom allowing no variation.
Usage: Kilter seems to be favoured in reference to abstract objects: "The number of seats in Congress occupied by women is out of kilter with their proportion of the general population"
You could say "Your job is to keep the car in good kilter"
In the U>S> whack is preferred with concrete objects, "I can't mow the lawn today;my back is out of whack. {remember that one]

So if it is out of whack, the 2lb hammer will bring it into kilter.

Kilter is what a Kentuckian says when asked about
his wifes disappearence.

Another one is disgruntled. You hear of folks being disgruntled but never the other way.

ie. My wife is very gruntled now.

Another use of the word "Whack".

I had a Greek Mythology professor who used the word profusely, as in, "When Agamemnon returned after 10 years in the Trojan War, his wife and her boy friend whacked him while he slept. They weren't ready for him to come home, yet".

That has to be the ultimate hard luck story.

So the saying "All good things must come to an end" is really not true ALL the time.!!
