Why don't people put prices in ads? You can almost bet that their prices are way out of line with the real world. I don't know how you guys are , but I won't even respond to an ad without a price anymore. I call their voice mail and then maybe they get back to me today or in a day or two. If they don't post a price as a motivational gimmick then they lose because I won't call. We were taught to write along the lines of (Who-What-Where-When-Why). A lot of people act as if they are paying by the word when they post.

I agree. Also the stores you go to now dont have the price up any more.I think the price of the stuff they sell is affected by what their bills are for the month. If they have a big air conditioner/heat bill the price goes up.I guess you cant blame them for that as much as somebody that puts an ad in the paper or on the internet with no price.Makes me mad too.

Yep,i agree. Another good one is our auto parts ,with nothing priced on the shelves. So when there busy, a guy looks around and sees stuff he might be interested in ,but with no price you'd have to keep quizzin the clerk who's busy. And also that leaves the clerk open to quote you the good ole boy price--or the other ? same with people who won't state prices in there ads--I pass on them all

If someone calls and the first thing out of their mouth"How much" and he dont know it has new tires, one owner and is in perfect condition and I say You dont even know what it is like. Chances are he has a tractor that he is trying to price.

I never call or email on an ad without a price.

If the price is so embarrassing that it can't be listed, it's not worth checking in to.

True the no pricers usually are no sale! I no longer bother to contact sellers on the site who are unstable enought to not price parts items.

Its kind of like employers putting ads in the newspapers without identifying themselves and then complaining that no one responded. If they are embarrassed to identify themselves, why would anyone want to work for them. As for stating the price, I find it separates the wheat from the chaff quickly and eliminates a lot of tire kicking calls.

Yea, seems like a waste of time. Price it if you want to sell it.

Then if you do call they have to tell you a long story before they get to the price. I called a local jockey about a 1550 Oliver one time. I asked what he was asking for it. He started in with "well, you know, there's a lot of difference in 1550s. You can buy one that's..... ..." BUT HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT FOR IT!!

Called a guy about a 9N he had advertised without a price. Told me his wife said he had to sell it. When I asked how much he wanted for it he said " Ya can't afford it" and hung up...

It is obvious that they really don't want to sell the item.

Years ago the state farm sale paper started requiring prices on ads.

What bugs me are the dealers who won't list prices for their stuff, new and used. I had that discussion with a local JD dealer who advertises in Fastline. Usually he lists prices.

I never answer an ad without price either. Would like to know if many folks do answer ad without price and why and if they ever got a fair price quoted when they did.

I don't read the classifieds unless I want to buy something. If I find what I want, a price is nice, but wouldn't make me do without if it wasn't there. I ask straight out what the price is though. Sometimes people just don't know what they should charge for something.

Here in Germany it was and still is a common practice to collect manure in a tank, add water, and splash it out on the fields as fertilizer. The older tanks are just right to use as water tanks for the pasture. Usually 1500 liters, trailer mounted, and you can get an automatic drinker that mounts on them. Pull it home, fill it, and park it on the pasture. Anyway, called about 1 and the old guy had quit farming and was cleaning up his place and didn't know what to charge. Went to look and make an offer and got it for free when he found out I wasn't a scrap dealer and was going to use it. Also got a set of harrows, couple of wooden wagon wheels, and some other goodies that I'll never use but never part with. He was a POW of ours during WWII and sent to somewhere in MI until the war was over and loved it. His brother was taken to Russia and never heard from again. It was a long visit but a great experience. Ended up moving a bunch of stuff for him over the next couple of weekends because I felt bad for not paying anything and wanted to here some more stories.

Had opposite experience also.
