Thanks for all the recommendations on the tractor.
I already have the DUAL 325 loader with mounts for a two-cylinder deere, 4020, and Super 88 Oliver. I'd like to use the loader for sure, but would be willing to get or make other mounts if necessary. I'm partial to older tractors, and although the 5000 Ford continually gets good reviews, I just don't like squat, short tractors. I'm leaning towards the 706, 1655, 3020 type, either gas or diesel. Maybe 4010, Case 830. I don't know the newer IH or JD tractors but will check them out on tractorhouse. We have both JD and CNH dealers here.

The 5600 Ford is not short and squat the way I look at them. Course, I'm only 3'6" (:>)). My neighbor has one. Bought it new. Last time I checked (about two years ago) they had over 12,000 hours on it. Looks like hell, runs like new!

Hey, soundguy, I don't think gas price will be a factor much longer. Diesel at the pumps here hit $4.01 last weekend. Crazy!!

I agree with Rod.. even though gallon for gallon.. the prices are neck and neck.. a gallon of diesel will get you farther in a 65hp tractor than a gallon of gas in a 65hp tractor... I had a frined with a 5000 trike gasser.. I don't know how he kept the tank full...

I agree with you guys. But how long before the oil companies will change that . With all these diesel pickups running around, the gov. will find a way to make it more expnsive.

By the time diesel is to expensive to buy.. then gas will be out of site... no good end to that problem in the near future.. maybee after november wears off...

Try feeding an 80 HP gas engine for a day or two and you'll go wimpering back to 4 dollar diesel pretty quick. I'd sooner that than double the amount of gas even if it is a few cents cheaper...
For what it's worth, dyed diesel is closer to $4.50 here today; 87 gas is the same price and road diesel is closer to $5.25. Those prices are for US gal in Cad dollars. Ironically, furnace oil is $3.51.....

If you already have the loader do what I did. Frustrated with the price of worn out loader/tractors, I bought just the loader at auction for $400. Then bought a tractor to fit the loader regardless of the make. Saved a bundle and got a pampered tractor. They're all good if pampered.
