Dumb question but how do you measure a plow? I have a two bottom JD F45 trip plow and don't know if it is a 14 inch or 16 inch. Thanks DH

Ultra dog's got a good pic of it.

I always laugh at supposed farmers that don't know how to mesure a plow but think they do.

I see 'em measuring the moldboard all the time at auctions and scratching their heads.HE HE

If you have a one bottom plow, can you just measure the length of the share?

No because the share runs at an angle to the cut. You can measure the wide of the furrow and come close.

i always thought it was the width of the mold board but i could be wrong. but i think it's the width of the cut as rrlund said

Check that tape at the 4 foot mark,mine was a 1/4 inch off at 4 feet.Gave it to my wife to measure garden row spacing.
