Helped the neighbor cut a bunch of trees yesterday for a quail habitat improvement project. "Edge feathering" its called. Well I had a tree kick back and bonk me in the head. Then I just barely nicked my kneecap with the chain saw.

Went to the Stihl dealer and bought a hardhat and cut proof chain saw chaps. Spent $100 but I dont heal up as fast as when I was in my 20's

Just started discing for some prescribed burns for quail. We don't have any native birds, but I release 4-5 week old chicks to fend for themselves. Bt the time they reach 8-10 weeks, they act just like wild birds. The dumb ones teach the others about predators. Sure works great for training dogs.

Missouri does more work for quail than any state I'm aware of. They have lots of workshops. Here in Michigan, it's deer and turkeys.

When was the last time you got through the ER for less than $100 bucks!!!!

I got a the hard hat with muffs and shield and chaps off e-bay some years back.

Never been sorry that I did. I wear the chaps when trimming and such. Use the hat almost everytime the saw comes out for anything major. Love the ear muffs, My dad lost all his hearing in his right ear 35 years ago and his left is showing signs of running open tractors for most of his life. My hearing is showing some signs and I want to protect it as much as I can from now on.
