I've got a radio. It delivers all manner of political talk and BS. I don't really care about all the distractions that show up as political talk. Nobody is talking about things that really matter or will make the least bit of difference.

How about we stick to tractors here ?

Greg

Steven, this just isn't fair. You keep posting pictures of tractors I dream about. Especially the 4450, that is one nice looking tractor. I also like the video's of the 8630, one of these days, hopefully.

Let me quote George Washington as he left the presidency in 1790 something,"We must NOT split into two parties, it would be bad for the country and could lead to the country's down fall, this country that I fought a bloody and costly war to create. So Honor me in life and death and don't split in half." Was this quote foreshadowing, lets hope not. Also does it sound familiar to these,"United We Stand" and "Join or Die." So lets just get rid of politics all together and get this country back on its feet and running again then we can yell and through fits and fist at each other. just my 2 cents.

Dunno if the old 8630 JD is Dem or Rep... Let's call it an "independent" that just wants to get the job done to make life better for its owners!

Here's the younger brother of the 4x4:

third party image

I'll just keep injecting a few tractor pictures so the thread stays "on topic" and "tractor related."

Yes I posted on an OT thread,... to complain about the OT threads containing "POLITICS"!!

All the OT "politics" threads do is lead to arguements, insults, vulgar language, an etc., because the "2 parties love to hate each other" while neither one of them are working FOR this country, or, care about anything even remotely related to tractors and farmers.
There are "tractor sites", and "politics sites", on the internet,.... YT just happens to be a TRACTOR SITE,.... and the "politics sites" are just a "click" away for those of you that like to ARGUE and BASH each other.

Wait a minute. You post an OT to complain about OT? I don't stay on here very long if there aren't many good OTs going on. Yes,I farm,I work on tractors,I collect tractors,I belong to tractor collector clubs,I give advice on fixing tractors when I can. But there's more to life than tractors. As long as everybody's being polite and actually making sense with something to say, especially older folks who have lived different experiences,it's quite an education. Did you read the one a few weeks ago about the guy in the wheelchair who tried to give advice to a construction foreman on freeing a stuck dozer? The foreman dismissed him. Probably BECAUSE he was old and in a wheelchair. Turns out the old guy knew what he was doing and they had it out in SECONDS. If you don't like the OTs,aren't curious, think you know everything there is to know about life, skip over them,PERIOD. Let others use the internet as a social thing and move on.

Politics might be tractor related. If you don't vote for the right guy or say your piece with the guys you do have, someone will rule tractors cause global warming and outlaw them.

Back to the horses now. OOPS horse and cow farts cause warming too. I think we're sunk

I'm going to take a stab at the picture is an 8630. I really like the cast center duals. If it made more sense I would put them on my 4430, but that's a bit much weight for the poor thing.

I like the O/T's as a rule. It is best to leave politics out though.

In a way it is amazing how much stuff that is O/t could be tractor related. I needed advice on chain saw sharpening and got about 20 replys. Extremely helpful. And I got to thinking. The chain saw cuts the wood, that heats the shop, so I can work on the Super H!!!

See, most of it ties in.

Hey, It's going to be a wonderful day, and even a better weekend, and then a wonderful next week!!

Enjoy life guys, Gene

Tractors are the lifeblood here. I am fortunate to have an old tractor. But don't we need variety too? Look at Cowboard: that's not 100% tractors. I for one enjoy reading about "What is your view out the window?", dogs, your local weather, etc. (Is lightning AC or DC?) THANKS to the folks who work to keep this site going. My 2 cents. There was a spot here just for politics to keep that subject out of the other forums .

Too many people were taking the time to find it , read it , then complain , so it was shut down .

Catch 22 - you cant win for losing .

There it is. I think everybody is a lier on here that just wants to talk about tractors only. What color is your tractor, how do you drive a tractor, somebody wants to trade a 4 wheel drive tractor with a loader for my 86 lebaron, should I do it? Like watching paint dry. they just go to OTs to read, and comment, then bitcch like little girls. My unsafe post might have got some to go there unknownly, but they didn't have to write a two page comment then complain about the topic. Read and move on. Like the XXX store, they go and read and look at pictures for two hours then complain about the bad place in the community, it said XXX before you ever went in.
I visit at the local feed store, not once has anyone ever commented on a tractor, they talk about the high price of fertilizer and the lack of hay and the AH thats ruined our country, and a few dirty jokes.

The majority of OT threads DON'T contain "politics" and are interesting,... so, how do you know beforehand that an OT thread is eventually going to "turn" to politics WITHOUT clicking and reading it????? ????? ?

Well, you don't know. But I know you'll be there to complain about it. All you have to do is click the mouse and you're out of that post. Seems you expend ten times the energy complaining about OT posts than it would take to just go on to something else. Unless something's completely in bad taste or offensive, don't worry about it. The few political and OT posts on here ain't killing anybody.

Obviously the user that posted this message must be horribly offended by OT posts and/or have no tolerance for anything other than tractors. Thus my advice to HIM was to not read OT posts... if you have a higher tolerance for OT posts, and are capable of reading them, and then stopping at a point you see a message become political, and then moving on the the next message.. go for it... the original poster obviously can't.

It USED TO BE in the post-FDR days that anyone could talk and have a rational conversation about presidents and politicians without too much ridicule, but now, we are subject to a bunch of never-ending arguments.

Basically, it's just improbable that there are two people who have the same political views.

It's just a thing that I don't really care for anymore, almost upsetting to think of it.

Your grounds lookin a bit dry there. Looks like you could use a little bit of rain. Someone posted above that got some rain today that turned into snow, and a couple others say its dry. Hmm. You're in ND and its dry, one guys in KY and its dry, one guys in TX and its dry, but I'm in Indiana on the MI border and its plenty wet. I aint complaining, will take all the rain or snow I can before planting season, and of course rain after planting season. Hmm. I'd better pull out a map and triangulate you guys and see how I fit into this.

By the way, nice looking setup.

Thanks for the compliment! I think that picture is from last year or maybe even two years ago. I'm not home yet to help out, so I'm not sure what it's like, but Dad says when the wind blows he can't see the cattle for all the dirt... so it seems to be fairly dry again this year. I'll be in ND on the 14th and will hopefully have some new pics to share shortly after...

It's an 8630 John Deere tractor hooked up to a tow-between type air seeder. The tank behind the tractor holds grain and fertilizer which is metered into tubes with high velocity air blowing through them. Tubes go back to the cultivator that has 4" wide spreaders on it to drop the seed and fertilizer. It is also set up to put down anhydrous ammonia deep banded (put in the ground deeper than the seed by about 4") with spikes.

I like the cast centers as well, keeps us from having to add even more ballast. It will spin out if the ground is a little wet, but otherwise I think it's just about perfect. Too much ballast and you have compaction issues, along with too much stress on the drivetrain.

Here are a couple of videos of the rig idling, and in action in the field:

Don't know who said it was dry in KY, and some where it might be but it sure ain't here!!!

We are 12" over normal so far on the year and getting another few inches tonight.

This time last year alot of people were about done with corn planting (for the first time, late April freeze made for alot of replanting) and this year I know of no one who has got any NH3 down yet. My brother works for Souther States and he has been loading urea on air planes for the last few weeks. Never seen that round here before.
