I need a newer tractor. I use the tractor for spading, roto tilling, lots of brush hogging, some discing, chisel plow, and other pull type implements. Chisel plow is 4 shanks. I make alot of compost using the loader.

Is there a disadvantage to hydrostatic for pulling things like disc, chisel plow ion the newer models. I was looking at a 30-34 horse power model.

A true 4 shank chisel plow is not gonna plow with the size tractor you're talking about. Maybe you mean a harrow or something like that.

Hydro's don't like plowing normally. They waste fuel by all the heat they produce under heavy load. If you only do it every so often then it doesn't matter.

The main reason to have a hydro is loader work, they also work well for roto-tilling and snow blowing. Mowing isn't too hard on them either.
