They grow that high $$$ corn in Nebraska? If so, don't matter. You'll have money to buy a new sweep plus fill up your Ford p/u.

Reminds me of walking beans as a HS kid. Twas a seed bean field-they could do that, ya know. Headlands were along a creek-mile and a quarter 1/2 round. Was 24 rows wide, but only sent 3 guys-so we were watching more rows than we were used to. Told us there was a $100 reward for a cultivator shank that he was sure he lost in there. We never did find it-never heard if his combine tire did either!

Oh boy, does that bring back memories!

You guys couldn't have found an old cult. shovel somewhere so you could have collected your bounty? Oh well, I guess you did the honest thing.

One of the guys I had walked beans with laid down their hoe in a bean field. Never did find it. Farmer was really mad. Found out later it ended up in the rock box on his combine.

Old one was a 10". Looks as tho it was a hand-me-down cultivator wheel track duckfoot tho.

New one is 6" wide, which is what belongs on the thing. It is the center ridge buster on my disc.

I`d call it being a little proactive, not overreactive...

Now tell the truth, you`ll start with one or two, and end up replacing them all just so it looks right :)

Better take a look at the alignment of the prongs too - wearing more on one side. Dad wouldda had us switch with the opposite side gangs too.

Call it decorative metal art. They'll fall over themselves trying to get them.

Better to replace them now than to pick up that little wing in a tractor tire one day in the future. I've got a nice little round scar in the palm of my left hand from changing cultivator points. I was holding the point and using an impact to take the nut off. The bolt jumped out of the square hole and cut me before I could let go.

That's what I was thinkin'. Looks to me like it is about ready to break off.

Was greasin' the gangs yesterday and noticed that it was gettin' a bit thin. Just my luck to run 'er thru an expensive tractor tire. :>(

I think you got that one right Allan. I have done just the front sweeps on a field cultivator and got some more acres outta the rear ones..but ultimately they all gotta be replaced sometime

Now, did none of you guys ever hear of knock-on shovels for cultivators? Saves a lot of time...and a lot of bolts.
