ITs a Reliable ,Handy little efficient car. However While driving around 30mph lately I have noticed a low level but high pitched dog whistle type noise coming from the front end ..I would suppose a bearing is getting tired after 22 years and 159 Thou miles ,, But Which one ?,, Any of You GM guys know what that sound means ,The sound Seems to remain the same regardless of high speeds or slow..But gradually drops off to no sound in the last 10 mph.. Turning or Braking makes no difference in sound change .. I really appreciate this forum for all the round table discussion . thank You

A 1986 Chev Celeb. was my first car. Drove that car across the country and back... Through my years at school etc. I let it go at 165,000 miles....

Not any help to your question but I liked that car.

loose lug nuts make a whistling sound as you drive across a solid-side concrete bridge or similiar enclosed space.

Might be a vacuum leak on the engine.

It might be a front brake tap that is on them to let you know the brakes are getting thin. They will make a sound like that. Easy way to figure it out would be to jack up the front end, put it in gear with the rear wheels blocked and then do a walk around to see which side its coming from then go from there. Just be sure its blocked up real well to be safe
