It's about time to get a new cell phone, and would like to get one that takes pictures. I have had US Cellular forever, satisfied customer. I stopped and looked at new phones, looking at the specials they run in the paper. I asked about getting the pictures off the phone and onto computer, and they said to e-mail them to myself and then do it that way, only costs 25 cents per picture. Don't think I like that. Is there any way to hook phone up to computer like you do the camera to download pictures? I can see the advantages of camera-phone, but come on, 25 cents a picture? Thats tooo rich for my blood. What do you guys do? Chris

Hello super99.
I am posting some SD cards that are available. Top one is a CF.
The one on the left is an SD.
The one in the middle is a minnie SD.
The one on the right is a micro SD.
The micro SD fits camera phones and can be as much as 2GB. There are 2 other types of cards. One is called an Xd, and the other is called an MS.
There may be more choices out there, these are the one I have come across so far.
Guido.

Don't know bout US (I have Cingular/ATT) but I have a deal on my plan where I get unlimited text messaging, so much time on the internet, and 40 multimedia (pics) messages a month for $10. It is worth it for me, my soon to be bride has a real job where she can't talk on the C phone all day so we text and I check the weather on my phone alot. (for me that is one of the best things about my phone, looking at radar while try'n to decide how much tobacco to cut down at a time or wondering if hay needs to dry for a few more hours) The pic phone is good for recording funny crap you see every day. I use it alot on the farm, last week I took a pick of a hydrolic leak on a tractor and showed it to the guy at the parts desk so there was no question about what I was talking about. I take pics of cows that have just calved so I will remember what number to write down in the book when I get to the house.

If you can get one with US Cellular, I highly recomend the Motorola V365. It comes closer to being a "farmer" grade phone than anything else I have found that has camera.

[quote="Dan in Houston"](quoted from post at 04:58:58 05/25/08) My Motorola Crzr cell phone has room for a Mini-SD chip, only about a 1/4" square but holds 1 gig of memory. When you take photos or video, it stores them on the chip. The chip also came with a regular sized SD chip adaptor that it slides into. My laptop has a SD chip reader, so you can put the Mini SD chip into the adaptor and plug into the laptop, then download the photos directly. Whole process sounds complex, but it is really not.[/quote

I took all these pics with my motorolla cell phone, it used a sd card that i just slide out, put in adapter and put in my computer, no different than most digital cameras out there, I dont think the pictures are bad at all!

Hello super99
Most new camera phones will have a slot for a SD card. You can use the card to transfer ths pictures into your computer with a card reader. Some printers now have card reader as well.
Mine has 4 slots: XD CF MS SD.
My phone has a micro SD card 1/2 gig i bought exta when I got the phone. It came with adapters Sd and macro SD.
I took this picture iesterday with the camera phone.

Recently bought a picture phone for my wife, and the guy said Radio Shack had the hookup stuff and software to transfer them to your computer. I haven't checked it out, but could be a place to start.

Hey Super. My phone will take pictures. Only way to get them off is to mail them. To mail them I have to pay several dollars more for text messageing. I have a cable to hook to computer but that will not work (move pictures) on my phone. I am told that if you have a phone with the little removable memory chip that you can do it with that. Those things get complicated. Kenny

Hey Ol' Bud,

That's what the cell phone company tried to tell me too. Bunch a bunk.

Go to ebay and type in your phone model. You can buy both the interface cable and the software to run it for about $15.

Plugs in at the same place as your charger. Computer will charge the phone, run the camera, upload or download pictures and do it at the same time.

If your phone has a camera, it will interface.

Any body but you old friend and I would doubt it. I Have interface cable to USB, and it is no go. I will take your advice and go from there. Wish me luck. I'm too tight to pay app $6.00 more per month to get text messaging so to E-mail them. This is Sprint.

Thanks, Allen. Did you get dumped on Friday? Weather map had a big area of green, yellow and red just spinning around out your way. We got about 1.3 inches. Corn and beans planted, need to spray corn. Chris

Yeah,

Got a nice rain Friday and again early Sat. morning.

Went out and buried the pickup up to the doors while checking cattle. :>(

About those camera phones, I bought two of the gizmos. Told the phone people I wanted the absolute best they had.

Just did not like the quality at all..... ..:>(
