AM side of radio don't have reception worth a darn. Was told at FTLINER there is a box that combines FM AM and weather band and will fail. Wouldn't mind replacing radio but then maybe be the box thats bad. Some guys I talk to say none of the later models have good AM reception. So if I replace both will I have decent AM or not
Thanks. Gene

Eugene, I had the same problem with a 2005 Business Class the antenna had come unplugged at the radio. It was like that from day one, I took out the cubby hole next to it and plugged back in.(mounted overhead)

Most of the newer Freightliners duplex the CB and AM/FM radios thru what you think is just the CB antennas. If the CB antennas have been replaced, that may be your problem as these trucks require special antennas to do both jobs. The antennas are available at your Freightliner dealer and really aren't any more money than truck stop antennas. Loy

AM radio just isn't what it used to be. I get very annoyed at the static and interferance associated with AM, so I mostly just tune in on the FM side. Don't know anything about the radio in your Freightliner, but I would imagine you could just pull it out and replace with a good aftermarket unit and be done.
