what the discussion between Cheney and the oil people was about. They plotted to raise the price of fuel until the American public squealed and would allow drilling in ANWR and offshore even though the oil companies hold oil leases on millions of acres of land on the continental US.

I think that corn is going to get so high that the ethanol will no longer be made(the wishes of a bunch on here) then the real gas can go to unlimited amount per gallon, and the oil companys win again.

The thing I tire the most of is people who don't really know sheet firsthand blowing smoke on a site devoted to tractors. Hows about getting a life (or at least a tractor, remember those?). The whole world wants oil, third world wants a better standard of living, including better food, resources are not infinite, get used to it.

If anyone thinks that drilling in Alaska is going to help the USA oil supply they are mistaken. The oil from Alaska is sold overseas, not here. The reasons having to do with US refineries not being equipped to handle the type of crude, and the financing arrangements of the pipeline. Dave

I sure would hate to call names on a friendly board so I will refrain from calling tlak a moron. But if it was permissible to call names, I would call him that.

I don't think much of conspriacy theories, but I sure do think the oil guys will take advantage of any situation they can.

As much as I hate to interject in a political topic, I'm going to. What if there isn't enough oil inside said leases to make it worth drilling? Could be the reason they don't drill. For another side to the arguments, visit www.energytomorrow.org. Just my thoughts.

Just looked at your sit, www.energytomorrow.org, it's that oil industry site that's been flooding the airwaves with commercials about how good they're for us and what a favor they're doing us.

Actually the news just had a story about this 10-15 min ago. The oil co's are just setting on them because it's like money in the bank, no need to drill, plenty oil around. So when they open these other ares the oil companies will just buy up the leases there too. Now tell me you'll ain't just be lead around by stumpy.

I am so tired of hearing the conspiracy theories on gas prices. We are not allowed to drill in our own country. We have not built a refinery in 30 years. How much do you think the US population has grown in those 30 years? Does not seem difficult to figure out why the prices are where they are. Supply and Demand. What is so wrong with drill for our own oil?

"hold oil leases on millions of acres of land on the continental US" Same point, why drill elsewhere?
China's raising the price of fuel to curtail usage, so China's not the culprit, we're the biggest user of fuel but when we cut back, up to 20%, there's no effect on the cost of fuel?
Why is drilling going to help supply and demand if the problem supposedly has always been refineries, but I've never been to a gas station that didn't have fuel.

lets not forget the reason we went to war==== to get Iraqi oil. After all these years how much have we imported from there.??? Now several oil companies are negotiating with the Iraqis to help them rebuild their oil industry. That all part of the Cheney-Bush conspiricy also. Yeah, right. nuff said Henry
