I overhauled my 504 diesel myself. It is 2/3 of a 706 engine, if you have the older 282 diesel. New pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings and wrist pins were right at $500, or $125 per cylinder. I had my injectors and pump checked at a diesel shop, cost $100 to test and minor repairs. Didn't do amything other than clean up the head. The tractor only has 1600 hours on it. It sucked a cylinder sleeve into the crankcase (#1 cylinder) is why I had to go into it. Took longer to clean the parts than it did to do the actual engine work. Tractor runs great now.
