Sick Magneto, cont'd

While trying to get to the points of my Super A's magneto, I made the mistake of opening the small gearbox in which the 1 to 2 reduction gears run to drive the distibutor. Is there a way of timing these gears again while the magneto is off the tractor? (The service manual does not mention this aspect.) Hope you experts can help me out again. Thanks!
