I've got a problem with my '58 Cub. Today it's in the upper 20's, low 30's. I can't seem to get the clutch to disengage fully. I checked the pedal free travel and the finger/bearing clearance appeared ok (looking through the inspection port). The throw-out bearing and facing were replaced last summer. The facing does not appear to be stuck to the pressure plate. I adjusted the clutch pedal to reduce free travel, although if I adjust any further, the bearing fork hits the pressure plate fingers. I greased the bearing. If I start the tractor in gear with the clutch depressed, there is a distinct whining. After moving if I press on the clutch and stop, the whining resumes, although the engine is not loading excessively. When the clutch is released, there is a whining from the transmission that dissapears once the tractor is moving. Any thoughts? The problem was apparent during the fall at start-up, but seemed to relieve itself as the tractor warmed up. Today it was persistant.
