Pay attention to where the gasket is blown out. this is the area where the plate will be warped. After sanding it flat, reinforce it with a small steel bar. I use a piece 1/4" thick and 1/2" wide. You will need to notch it a bit to clear the web on the cover. Drill a hole for the bolt on each end and use longer bolts. When you are ready for the final installation, put a slight bend in the middle of the bar so that the center presses on the cover befor the ends are drawn down. I have done this to quite a few pumps and have never had another gasket failure with any of them.
