If by "straight" you mean bone-stock, I'd agree. If you mean "M" vs. "Super M", I'll have to agree with Dr. Evil's post. My Dad and I farmed for several years with two main tractors, a '49 M, and a late '52 Super M. They both had received the M&W thin-wall sleeves and over-size high-compression pistons. Combined with Thompson governors and a little tweaking on the carb and ignition, the M dynoed at 52hp, and the SM at 54hp. Granted, the top governed speed was raised well above stock.
