Gene I agree more than likely it is linkage. However last year while mowing on rough ground the lock nut on the surge bumper of my Super C bacame loose and it wanted to run wide open. It would idle some at dead idle as soon as you gave it a little gas it sounded like that jet leaving. I investigated and found the bumper adjusting screw about to fall out. I screwed it in until tractor ran better and all is well with it now.
