You can fix the problem of the fuel getting into the pump oil yourself. It's 99% probably the seal on the transfer pump leaking. If you go to the red power magazine forum and do a search for posts by a guy who goes by "MB CAT", he has posts telling everything needed, including part numbers, to do this fix.

Once you get that fixed, put a little ATF in the fuel tank, take her out and get it warmed up and work it hard for awhile, just might clear up that occasional puffing of smoke.
