super c block serial #

is there a difference at all in an engine block with # 354898r1 and 354898r2. I was about to order a new piston set and they all say they are for the r1 engine. mine is an r2. I talked to the original owner. he ordered it with high compression pistons;fire crators, and it had a step head. Is that the difference maybe? I thaught that would be a dealer installation and not affect the block number.
