B transmission

Ok fellas, here's a different one.
Several months ago I bought a 42 model B, basically for parts. After it "donated" less than what I thought I would need, I decided to mess with it, put it back together and get it running.
One little problem.
The transmission won't shift into any of the gears, clutch in or out.
I can find the spots where the gears are supposed to be, but I can't force the shifter into place?
Anyone have an idea where I should start looking on this one?
I don't have a clue.
