After much advice from various members of this board, I tore into the front end of my '50 H yesterday. Removed the front wheels, lower and upper bolster, steering shaft, etc. Replaced all bushings(worm gear included), bearings, oil seals, etc. Before, the steering gear box was full of grease, leaked gear lube like a sieve. Filled it with 90 wt. last night, hasn't leaked a drop! Spun the sector gear and worm gear 180 degrees each, and my steering is now much tighter. There was about 1/3 turn of steering wheel play, now down to under 1/8. Also discovered my steering shaft u-joint is very loose, after that's replaced, it should be PERFECT! All the advice I've gotten from you guys lately really made a difference. It still took every bit of daylight I had to finish the job proper. MANY THANKS to all of you who helped with your advice!
