need old IH mechanic help

I found a 806 lpg with an engine in it that is different than Ive ever seen. It looks just like the regular c 301 but this one does not have the cu. in. or the part number in the usual place by the dist., it is just blank. It does have a casting number on the left side towards the rear of the block. The number is 387716R1 and is casted in larger numbers. I have been told that this might be a "parts" block that may have been installed by a dealer. Does anyone know about a block like this?
