Well here's the problem and the question… The cutout relay on my A went bad, $20-25 for a new one, switch to a regulator $25-30, or I switch to 12V by buying a new battery $35-40 and installing an alternator that I already have. The current battery (6V)is of unknown age but takes and holds a charge well, the generator works well and appears to be in good shape but is also of an unknown age. I'm not bothered about keeping it original since I bought it for a work tractor, and in a way 12V would be nice as then I could jump start cars in the winter (cars sit outside tractor inside, strange the way we value things at times, $1000 tractor stored inside $30,000 truck outside… Oh well) I don't consider the work involved in any of the solutions to matter since I like working on my tractors and have done several 12V conversions in the past. Of course my current working solution is to connect the gen/batt wires together when I'm using it and disconnect when I'm done, but of course I either forget to connect or disconnect, so this is not a viable long term solution. So anyway to the question what would you do???

They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
