ignition problems

I am still trying to get my Super M to run OK. Now it is firing good only in cyclinders 1 and 4. If i hold the plug wires on 2 and 3 back from the plug a 1/2 inch or so, those cyclinders start firing. The same thing was happening on differenct cyclinders before so I think it has to be an ignition problem. Any suggestions?
