48 Cub I can`t figure it out

Hey guys I have a 48 cub that was working fine when I parked it. Now it starts and runs fine at idle but cuts out when you give it fuel. I took the linkage rod off the carb from the gov and the thing picks up fine what the heck is going on?? you put the rod back on and as soon as you move the throttle lever forward it cuts out. There are no wires touching the rod to the govenor and I can`t figure it out! PLEASE help, and thanks, Richard.
