I agree with Ace, don't be surprised if it doesn't start any better. I have changed two tractors to alternator charging. One is 6 volt the other is 12 volt. It has been 10 years since the change and to date the 6 volt system has been no trouble, even the ten year old battery is still performing. I had it going New Years day at -10C. With the 6 volt system you need only buy the alternator with built in 6 voly regulator. My supplier charged me same price as 12 volt, on a new alternator. My 12 volt change over required new lights, coil, ballast resistor and the alternator. It is now on its 3rd battery, 2nd alternator and a host of other problems. Many people like yourself say I am going to fix this tractor and its starting problems. They spend a lot of money changing to 12 volt when really all they needed was a better charging system. Also check your cables, over years many of these 6 volt tractors have been changed to wires that are away too light for job. On my conversions I use a push button, starter type button on dash for exciting the alternator. With the push button you don't forget and leave it on.

A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
