If it were me, I'd either replace the test cocks or else cob up some sort of replacement. I'd be a bit leery about screwing a pipe plug in and out all the time. Sooner or later the threads in the pan will wear/leak. And there's always the risk of a plug unscrewing and falling out.

If I recall correctly the tapped holes in the side of the pan are 3/8" FPT. Presuming they are, a 3/8 x 1/4 reducing bushing into the upper opening, then a 1/4" close nipple and a 1/4" plug valve screwed into the bushing would make a nice test cock. Would cost only about $10. You could do the same with the lower opening if you wanted. However I'd be inclined simply to put a plug in the lower one - I never use the lower test cock anyway.

Another option is to install an aftermarket dipstick assembly into the upper test opening, if you can find one. My Super M has one. But I have no idea where it came from (was on it when I acquired the tractor), and there's no identification on it.
