Power units on combines

How did the old power units (A engine) fit onto the old pull type 52R combines? I have found a power unit from a hay baler but it just has a pulley for a belt. Did the combines have the same? Some of you have been gracious enough to answer my questions on these old pull types so I appreciate it in advance if you can help me again.
