Dan, many cubs and other tractors were "field converted" when the magneto coil failed. Standard ignition coils were much cheaper than magneto coils to replace so many farmers replaced the mag kill or grounding switch with a standard 2 terminal switch with one lead going to the battery, the other going to the coil minus terminal, the coil plus terminal was then connected to the kill terminal on the side of the magneto distrubutor. The internal mag coil wire that went to the points was disconnected. So, your cub wiring should not be altered very much at all. Electrically, the circuit would look just like the diagram for a battery ignition tractor. There are cub wiring diagrams for both circuits on page 2 of the cub FAQ's on atis.net.
