Hi Greg, That isn't very much oil that the engine is using. Check it often and change it regularly. Most diesels are hard to start in the cold weather without some way to preheat them. If you use it alot in the winter you install a coolant heater in the block or in the bottom radiator hose. You can also put them on a timer to come on when you need it.
