International Harvester was formed in 1902. Farmall was the name it applied to its row crop tractors, starting with experimentals in 1919 and extending to 1973. It never was a division or a seperate company. There was a factory called Farmall Works, but Farmall tractors were built in several other factories as well, and many non-Farmalls were built at Farmall. Its just a name, folks like Corvette or Chevette. IH started making tractors in 1906, sold the Ag equipment Division in 1985 to Case, always made non- Farmall tractors, often on the same assembly lines. In fact, there's a few people around who like non-Farmalls, and get agravated when people call their non-Farmalls Farmalls, like my Super W-6. It ain't a Farmall, never was, so don't call it that, even if it was built at Farmall Works.
