I had a head gasket on my car that leaked oil down the back of the engine for at least 60,000 miles. It had to let go around an oil passage during times of high pressure (sub zero start up).It would lose about a quart every month. When I tore it down, the gasket was all soggy.I blame that one on a cheapo OEM original gasket (not that your oem gasket was junk).Like when Chrysler forced their gasket supplier to cheapen head gaskets on their 2.2 engine before they hit the streets.Chrysler saved a couple dollars a gasket, the supplier didnt want to cut the quality, and thousands of 2.2 owners later absorbed the cost of gasket replacement after warranty expiration.
