I checked the voltage at the terminals on the alternator and could only read battery voltage. Removed the unit 2nd time and went to a different place to test the unit. The alternator worked again with an output of 15 volts for about 15 seconds then it quit. To make a long story short the unit was intermittent showing good when it was tested at the dealer. Replaced the unit and is working fine now. Thanks for the input and the time . Happy holidays.
