Farmall 140 electrical ?

The Farmall 140 I am buying has an electrical problem because I remember my uncle always having to unhook the battery everytime he finished using the tractor. He didn't fix it because he said it was too expensive. Do any of you know what he might have been talking about. Although I'll probably know more about them in the future, at this point I know nothing about the Farmall tractors.
