Only advice I have is to ask him if you can watch him work! The people that spent most of their working years on diagnosing and fixing these old tractors are a vanishing resource. About 25 years ago we took a Super M to the shop because it was down on power and had a hint of a miss. About 5 minutes after it rolled in the door, a retired IH mechanic stopped by to chat with the crew. One of them started the SM and said "What do you think, Floyd?" Floyd listed to it idle from about 2 feet away, and said, "Burned exhaust valve. Most likely #3 cylinder." He was right on target!
