The gear train on the older M will be overstressed with the pump. There are two options, both require removing the front cover and gears. A M&W pump will retro to the older housing, but they are rare, and still require replacing the gears with those from (most commonly) a super M, or an M with a late production # equipped with the tough gears. The other solution is to replace the gears and front housing to accomodate the newer IH OEM style pump. The distributoe/mag will work on eather I believe. JimN
