I have a 424 that has aftermarket "torque generator" power steering, and I am gathering parts to update it to hydrostatic power steering. The factory did it 2 ways, first, by leaving the gears out of the steering box, and using 2 hydraulic cylinders to move the steering arm hanging down from the "gutted out back and forth. On later serial numbers, they updated things, and used a single hydraulic cylinder, and a arm or lever that pivoted behind the front axle. They used a Ross steering "pump", connected to a steering valve. I am going to use a "steering pump" and valve from a 503 combine. The steering "pump" mounts a little differently than the bearing that's used for the mech steering setup. I checked the Depot Parts website, and they had a bracket, so I had the CNH dealer get it for me. If I don't find original power steering parts for the front axle, I will "fab" some mounts, and use a combine power steering cylinder. If a look at the 424 parts book pages would help you, email me, and I'll copy them off for you. Bob bigcoulee@hotmail.com

He froze to death getting this tractor out of the barn to pull a truck out of the ditch before I was born. Anyway my dad and aunt had to sell it at the auction,
