This should do for wiring. If it has a mag it is a kill switch that grounds the mag. If it has a generator and regulator, the three position is correct. If it has a cutout relay and no regulator it needs a four position switch. The Ignition switch with a distributor ignition would usually fail to no start from no spark, not no battery power to starter. It could be not charging the battery.
